Dazed and Confused

Good morning and my apologies for not updating the blog. You guys are a tough crowd! We will strive to keep you better updated!

They took the breathing tube out last night around 11 and it was uncomfortable but bearable. He handled it well! Annie and Nancy and I went home shortly after and had a great nights sleep so everybody including my dad is rested today which improves everything.

Today he has a lot to say. He is extremely opinionated and wants to talk to everybody. His brain mouth coordination is not quite synced yet so he is highly entertaining and acting a little bit drunk. His short term memory is pretty bad too so he repeats himself a lot and needs a lot of reminders. He has no pain and hasn’t had painkillers since the surgery, he will probably start feeling pain tonight which he is not looking forward to. Right now he is telling the nurse about how he will be skiing in Colorado…. In June. He calls strangers in from the hall to tell them about his transplant. Too funny.

He is trying to maneuver his IPad but forgets what he is doing and looses his train of thought. He loves the staff here, they have been wonderful.

We are in ICU right now but are moving to the transplant recovery floor within the hour. That is awesome news and he is really proud of that. And we are proud of him.

There are no complications or red flags as of now and we are past the initial 12 hour critical period. There probably will not be too much more info to share today but if anything notable happens we will let you know. I think he will be posting on his own tomorrow!
