About 10 hours post surgery

At around 10:00PM we were told that if Dad’s bloodwork came back satisfactory They would remove the ventilator. Sometime around 10:15 tonight they removed the ventilator. Hooray! Vent removal is a big step toward recovery, and Dad is much happier and more comfortable without it. He does have a NG tube which makes talking uncomfortable but not impossible. He has a number of lines still, some of which will be pulled or replaced tomorrow. Sometime before noon he may go to a regular room.

We will keep you posted!

Hi to the Dickinson family. Just heard about the transplant from Brett and then found Dans blog – always forget how to find it.
So glad everything has gone so well – just very surprised that the transplant took place. I thought it wasnt going to happen. It seems so sudden.
We’ll keep holding thumbs for Dans recovery and thinking of you.
    Much love,
